Akash Deep’s Sister

“Don’t Worry About Me”: Akash Deep’s Sister Reacts to 10-Wicket Dedication

In a story that blends emotion with inspiration, Indian pacer Akash Deep’s sister, Akhand Jyoti Singh, has responded to her brother’s remarkable 10-wicket haul at Edgbaston — a performance he publicly dedicated to her as she battles stage-three cancer.

Speaking exclusively to Aajtak, Jyoti shared how the family celebrated the cricketer’s heroics, even as they face challenging times.

“Do Well for the Country”

Before Akash Deep left for England, Jyoti met him at the airport. Her message was clear:

“I’m absolutely fine, don’t worry about me — just do well for the country.”

Now undergoing six more months of treatment, she revealed her pride:

“It is a matter of pride for India. We clap so loud at home whenever he gets a wicket that the neighbours ask what’s going on!”

When Private Becomes Public

Akash’s emotional post-match interview, where he dedicated his career-best performance to his sister, caught Jyoti by surprise.

“We hadn’t gone public about my illness. But when he broke down and said it on TV, it meant everything. It shows how much he loves us.”

She added, “He is closest to me. Our father and eldest brother are no longer with us. Now, Akash is managing the entire household.”

Visits During IPL Season

Despite his commitments to Lucknow Super Giants during IPL 2025, Akash ensured regular hospital visits.

“He used to come before or after matches to meet me. That kept me going.”

“Everything I Have is for My Sisters”

Akash, the youngest of six siblings, has become the emotional pillar of the family.

“He always says: ‘Everything I have is for my sisters and family.’ That’s his promise.”

With 25 wickets in 8 Tests, Akash Deep is making his mark on the field — but it’s his off-field strength that’s touching hearts.

Homecoming Plans

Looking ahead, Jyoti has one wish: to feed her brother his favourite meals when he returns.

“He loves dahi vada I make. I’ll cook whatever he asks for. He deserves it all.”

Akash Deep’s 10-wicket feat at Edgbaston isn’t just a cricketing triumph — it’s a story of love, courage, and family resilience. In dedicating his success to his sister, he’s shown the world what it truly means to play for more than just personal glory.
